Unlock the surprising powers of scentwork for dogs

Because every dog wants to use their nose!
The world’s not visual to your dog, it’s an array of scents that we can’t begin to fathom. Your dog’s olfactory system is quite frankly, insane.

And yet as we rush around, trying to get everything done (including the dog walk), our dogs don’t get much of a chance to really use their noses.

But scentwork is much more than just an outlet for your dog’s natural desires to sniff, it’s an almighty tool to help with a range of issues.

“Fascinating to watch him working his brain in a new way”

My dog is very much nose led on his walks and I was keen to introduce him to scentwork to see if it was something he would enjoy.

Murphy had an introductory session with Rachael and loved it! It was fascinating to watch him working his brain in a new way. Rachael is endlessly patient (both with the owner and the dog!) and explained everything very clearly.

She didn’t rush us, we worked entirely at Murphy’s pace and she was also very in tune with when he needed a little break – I underestimated how hard dogs work their brains when using their noses!

Murphy loved his session with Rachael and we are looking forward to continuing his scentwork journey with her.

Who are scentwork classes for?

Honestly, I’ve never met a dog who wouldn’t benefit from scentwork. From puppies to senior dogs, and everything in between, your dog will absolutely get something positive out of scentwork classes. And so will you!

Nervous or Fearful Dogs

Maybe you have caught the training bug and you’re looking for something new to try with your dog. Or perhaps you have a dog who needs restricted exercise, but they’re getting bored.

If you have a shy, nervous or fearful dog then scentwork is a brilliant way to begin building their confidence.

And if you have a dog who’s 90 miles an hour, scentwork is definitely going to give you both some welcome relief!

Scentwork gives your dog agency, and you a break from micromanaging!

My absolute favourite thing about scentwork, is that it puts your dog in the driving seat. Your dog gets to explore, problem solve and use their brain and their nose without human interference!

It’s an awesome way for your dog to learn and figure things out. What is more satisfying and confidence building than that?

When your dog has the opportunity to take the lead, their optimism grows.

And when you see your dog calmly and happily snuffling around, even around things that would previously have sent them wild with distraction… your confidence grows.

How’s that for a winning combination?!

This way to optimism and confidence
